Black Zen delivers evidence-based meditation programs led by BIPOC instructors
We help workplaces, campuses and communities create a space for people to reduce stress and increase focus by building an inclusive culture of wellbeing. Our programs are built for organizations, rooted in equity, and designed for real people. We provide more than an app; we curate a live experience.
OUR FOUNDERS & APPROACH
Black Zen was created by sisters, Stacey & Jasmine Johnson, who each had extensive meditation experiences but rarely saw themselves reflected in mainstream wellness spaces. They set out to curate content, gather resources and build a wellness hub for people who have felt underrepresented in meditation and mindfulness practices.
Today, our instructors design and deliver programs that balance evidence-based techniques with humor, cultural references and real-life context. Sessions are designed to feel welcoming, grounded and practical - something you can take back into your workday and home life.
WHAT GUIDES OUR WORK
- Accessibility over perfection: In person and virtual guided sessions are for real schedules, not idealistic routines.
- Relevance and representation: BIPOC-led programming and modern, culturally relevant examples creates inclusivity.
- Evidence-based practices: Sessions are grounded in research, not trends.
- Community impact: Every paid program helps fund no-cost community offerings.
